FAQs

Q?

Why Work with a Recruiter?

A.

Working with a recruiter has many benefits, regardless if you’re searching for talent or looking to take the next step in your career. If you’re actively looking for a new job, or feel stuck in your current position and aren’t sure how to move on, working with a recruiter may open the door to new opportunities and help you get out of a career rut. For hiring entities, EHS recruiters take care of much of the tedious legwork that typically accompanies a candidate search, saving you time and money in the process.

But there are multiple recruiting agencies out there, each with a different approach.  How do you know which one will work for you? What does the recruiting process entail?  Is working with a recruiter really better than tackling a search on your own?  EHS – Minneapolis is here to help answer your questions.

Q?

How does recruiting work?

A.

Restaurants hire EHS to help them find restaurant professionals to fill key management positions in the Front- and Back-of-the-House. We meet with restaurant representatives to understand their staffing needs, then network with new and existing restaurant professional contacts to share the opportunity, find candidates who would be a good match for the position, and ultimately make a placement that meets both the restaurant’s staffing and the candidate’s career goals.

Q?

Restaurants pay you to make hires for them.  How can I be sure you’re working in everybody’s best interests?

A.

Making informed and thoughtful matches between restaurant professionals and the companies who hire EHS to help find them is key to our success. Both parties need to feel it’s a good fit, and we’re here to help guide the process to ensure that it is. The fees we collect from our clients – the restaurants – enable us to assist job seekers at no cost to the job seeker.  We walk our candidates through resume reviews, prep them for interviews, help them to identify their career goals, and work with them to get their careers on track.

Q?

Why would I work with an EHS recruiter and rather than start a job or a candidate search on my own?

A.

Staff turnover in the restaurant industry is typically higher than in other arenas. Whether you’re looking for talented professionals to fill a key role on your team or for a new opportunity that better aligns with your skills and career goals, EHS – Minneapolis recruiters are here to help in a way that streamlines the search process, saving you time, money, or both.

EHS has been in the recruiting business for more than 20 years.  Our recruiters bring extensive experience both working in and recruiting for restaurant industry jobs.  We’ve been in your shoes, and we’ve also developed relationships with restaurants and job candidates locally and nationwide who look to us to find them talented restaurant professionals and job opportunities.

Our search is informed and deliberate. At EHS, we meet in person with almost every restaurant professional who reaches out to us for help with their job search. We’re not interested in simply sending out resumes to as many companies as possible.  We sit down with candidates, review their experience, and help them define their goals.  We identify opportunities we feel would be a good fit for them, and then work to fine-tune their resumes using our knowledge of our clients’ needs and company cultures.  We then send resume directly to the hiring manager, increasing your odds of an interview, for which we prepare you prior to your meeting.

Even if we don’t have a good match for candidates right now, once they meet with one of our recruiters, we make sure to call them as soon as the perfect opportunity arrives.

Q?

How long will the search take?

A.

For both hiring entities and job seekers, this depends largely on a number of factors. How urgent is your restaurant’s hiring need? What is the market like for that position at any given time? As a candidate, do your experience and goals match up with our current opportunities?  Are you currently employed?  What kind of hours are you looking for?

We’ve helped place candidates in as little as two weeks, and others within six months.  In some cases, we’ve found opportunities for candidates who weren’t looking for a job at the time we first met, but who then contacted us a few years down the road when they were ready for something new.

Q?

I am currently employed, but am interested in seeing what else is out there.  Or, I need to fill a position that is currently held by someone we need to let go. Can you work with me confidentially?

A.

We understand the sensitivities of looking for a new job when you’re unhappy with or ready to move on from your current one.  We’re also aware of the sensitivities involved in needing to fill a position that isn’t yet vacant. Regardless of your position, all of your involvement with EHS recruiters kept confidential.

Q?

Why don’t you post all of your openings on your website?

A.

Because of our highly personalized approach to connecting candidates with the right job for them, we want our first point of contact to be with candidates directly.  This helps us to build relationships with candidates that help to fine-tune job searches and ensure that professionals are on track to meet their career goals.  Also, some of our clients wish to keep their searches confidential.  While we’ll happily share information on their staffing needs with candidates in person, we cannot post it online.
